On 14-15th June, LNEG participated in the first annual meeting of the Horizon Europe CO2NSTRUCT project. The big challenge of CO2NSTRUCT is to include the circular economy into climate mitigation modelling, focusing on key carbon-intensive materials, namely cement, steel, brick, glass, insulation materials and also wood.

The project findings at this stage were discussed with our User Board that combines key public and private players in the European policy and industry arena, such as DG Environment, CEMBUREAU- European Cement Association, EUROFER – European Steel Association, Saint-Gobain Glass, Association Glass for Europe, EURIMA – European insulation Manufacturers Association, brick multinacional Wienerberger, EEA – European Environment Agency, EEB – European Environmental Bureau, and the German Sawmill and Timber Industry Association. During three packed days intense exchange took place along the full spectrum of CO2NSTRUCT topics, namely, circular economy options along the value chains of these materials, their social and economic implication, greenhouse gas mitigation modelling and policy implications.

During the meeting CO2NSTRUCT consortium also collected feedback from its advisory board, including the EEA and key academia experts.
