LNEG is part of the LEAP-RE project consortium: Long-Term Joint EU-AU Research and Innovation Partnership on Renewable Energy. This project is divided into 3 pillars (Pillar 1, 2 and 3), and has around 83 partners between European and African entities.

The main objectives of the project are: To create a long-term partnership between African and European entities in the field of Renewable Energies; and; until 2025 – support collaborative Research and Innovation projects, and develop innovative projects in the area of ​​Renewable Energies.

LNEG’s participation contributes to the development of two Pilar2 sub-projects (technical-scientific development); PURAMS, with the objective of developing an autonomous solar cooker to face the challenges caused by the traditional cooking methods found in rural communities in Africa, and SetaDisma, with the objective of promoting the mini-grids sector in Africa through energy planning, digitalization and empowerment.
