The Earth Observation and Geohazards Expert Group (EOEG) brings together members from 29 countries and is one of the thematic groups of experts from the EuroGeoSurveys (EGS). EOEG’s mission and vision is to improve knowledge in geosciences by exploring Earth observation tools, and to assess the impact of geological hazards in Europe by harmonizing and updating national databases.
LNEG has played an active role in this group of experts in the components of geological resources and geological hazard, including participation in the Earth Observation Group (GEO). In July 2020, under the presidency of the Geological and Mining Institute of Greece with Elephteria Poydjiani, LNEG joins the vice-presidency of EOEG jointly with the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain and the Geological Institute of Slovenia, respectively, with Lídia Quental, Rosa Mateos and Mateja Jemec.
