The mark of our ancestor’s violence.

In several prehistoric Portuguese sites human skulls with trepanation marks were found, like those of the caves of Casa da IVloura (Peniche), Fuminha (Peniche) and Fontainhas (Cadaval) and also from the Midden of Moita do Sebastião (Muge).

We also can see several marks in skulls produced by strong strokes, probably resulting from fights. Marks of scalp and tongue ablations were also evidenced.
