A mirror made in stone

The friction along certain fault planes that affect pyrite masses may produce this kind of polished surfaces (fault mirror), as in this case, from the old mine of S. Domingos (Mértola).

In this mirror we can see the striae that show the direction of the displacement movement. – Cleopatra had mirrors made like this one.
