A super crocodile who lived in Chelas (Eastern Lisbon).
It is a beautifully preserved specimen, who lived during the Miocene, about 15 million years ago, in the region where the present day residential zone of Chelas (East of Lisbon) is located.
At those times, Lisbon was a vast swampy area, where Mastodons (ancestors of the elephants) and many of the ancestors of the present wet tropical African animals lived also, as proven by several other fossil remains in exhibition.
The length of this crocodile was about 8 to 9 meters, a size range that makes it to be now considered as a super-crocodile.
