LNEG occupies a fundamental place in the independent support to the promotion of public policies in Portugal and in supporting the economy in a time of energy transition and climate action, contributing to the development of the Territory, through scientific and technological knowledge associated with renewable energy resources and geological resources and risks.

The new sustainability challenges, guided by a global agenda for Sustainable Development, make a strong call for the adoption of more integrative and inclusive solutions, in order to ensure a development that guarantees well-being to society, without compromising the well-being of future generations. The importance of the commitments assumed by Portugal in the international framework should also be noted. LNEG, aware of the importance of collaborative work, has been closely monitoring all international commitments.
