Abstract: The area under study is situated between Portel and Ficalho (Alentejo) and includes crystallophyllic formations (very probably Cambrian), and Silurian and Devonian terrains. Granitic massifs of variable composition (granites, granodiorites and quartz-diorites) and gabbro-dioritic massifs cross these formations. Broad zones of metamorphism have developed at the contact of these massifs. Some dyke rocks (porphyrs, dolerites, etc.) are also reported. Ceno-Anthropozoic deposits cover a large portion of the area.
