1. Características dos Minérios do Jazigo de Ferro de Guadramil.
J. M. Cotelo Neiva ; Jorge Gouveia
Abstract: The siderite ore, presenting an oölitic texture, is constituted of oölites of siderite, silex and some of chamosite, cemented by siderite and calcite. It alters at the surface to limonite, stillpnosiderite, some goethite and chlorite. In the faulty zones it was metamorphosed to specularite. The carbonated ore averages in Fe, it ranging from phosphorous to average phosphorous.

3. Identificação de uma Montmorilonite Portuguesa.
Tomás Lopez Castro
Abstract: By means of chemical analises, curve of dehydratation and change of bases, the argil of Gueral (Barcelos-Portugal) was studied and it was proved to be a montmorilonite slightly impure by colloidal silica, scarse grains of silica and colloidal iron oxide. Magnesium and iron, in combination, should be found specially as isomorphical substitutes of the aluminium, what would probably be the cause of the high capacity of change of bases.

4. Notícia Sobre o Valor Económico do Jazigo de Guadramil.
J. A. da Cunha Gouveia ; F. de Morais Ferreira
Abstract: In the iron deposit of Guadramil, in the extreme NE of Portugal, research works are not yet concluded but they have already revealed that it is a bed of sideritic mineral changed to limonite near the surface, this sideritic mineral being susceptible of great benefit by means of the operation of calcination at a reduced price. The proved reserves of limonit are calculated at about 1 million tons. Provisionally, the proved reserves of carbonated mineral are calculated at about 2,5 million tons and this amount will be, in the near future, largely increased, owing to the conclusion of the work.

5. O Processo Humboldt: Possibilidades do seu Emprego e sua Economia.
V. Pinto Pinheiro ; H. Lopes Vieira
Abstract: In few words, the process called «Low-Temperature distillation and fusion in slow shaft furnace», which Humboldt-Deutz Motoren has been developing through the last years, has its main purpose the obtainment of pig iron from some casting-beds in which the parts or at least some of them are not adequate for the classic Iron Blast Furnace. In particular it allows the use of non-coking coals and iron minerals of very fine granulation, either in the case of residues of other industries or substances needing to be enriched. All these materials are aglomerated in briquettes with which the burden is made up. The main characteristics of the furnace are the square of rectangular section and the short height of it, which does not exceed 4 meters; it has however a specific production higher than the average of the conventional blast furnace. It must also be noted that the quantity of throat gas produced per ton of pig iron, and its rate of carbon monoxide is higher too.
In the making of this work, the authors based themselves on the results of some previous experiments carried out on an experimental furnace at Cologne and particularly on a experiment in which has been used the portuguese Magnetite and Anthracite. They make too short comments of the available portuguese raw materials, and calculate three casting-beds of which we give below the main characteristics; the balance of materials and the termic balances of each one of the hypothesis are shown in order to find out the cost of the obtained products, beeing this purpose of this study.
