Understanding CO2 electro-reduction in porous materials (PTDC/EQU-EPQ/2195/2021).
The CO2RED project aims to achieve new scientific advances in the co-electrolysis process of CO2 and water to produce syngas (CO+H2). Research work aims the integration of a catalytic system to build a 3D porous cathode with a high surface area and a structure resulting from pore engineering, assisted by advanced modeling, and the adaptation of a proton exchange membrane to the electrochemical reduction of CO2 contributing to the minimization of ohmic losses and improvement of the overall efficiency of the process.
The CO2RED project is financed by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and has as partners NOVA.ID.FCT – Associação para a Inovação e Desenvolvimento da FCT (Principal Contractor), LNEG – Laboratório Nacional de Energia e Geologia, I.P. (Participating Institution) and UNINOVA – Instituto de Desenvolvimento de Novas Tecnologias (Participating Institution).
